Running Man

An infinite film loop about evolution, engineering and design

Seoul, New York, London

Times Square, New York

Sejong Hyundai Motorgallery, Seoul

Piccadilly Circus, London

An original commission from Hyundai for three major venues for media art: Times Square, Piccadilly Circus and the first work exhibited at Sejong Hyundai Motorgallery, Korea.

Building upon Universal Everything’s series of films exploring human movement and digital costumes, Running Man is an expression of Resource Circulation, Hyundai’s eco-friendly production process – from steel to car to steel.

The sequence of the costumes is inspired by this looping production cycle, as it evolves from scrap metal through molten and rolled steel, before being formed into a car frame, designed body and the fully realised car. The process is completed as the car is streamlined and recycled, into the raw creation materials.
